Bitcoin edges lower as uncertainty over the Middle East conflict reduces demand for the risky asset, although cautious hopes for an Iran war peace deal limit its falls. President Trump said the U.S. and Iran were close to making a deal and talks could resume this weekend, while a 10-day cease-fire between Israel and Lebanon has taken effect. However, Reuters reports that the U.S. and Iran have lowered ambitions for a comprehensive peace deal and are instead aiming towards a temporary memorandum to prevent renewed conflict. Meanwhile, ongoing energy supply disruptions persist with the U.S. extending a blockade of Iranian ports. Bitcoin falls 0.5% to $74,851, LSEG data show. (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
